"The Light in Your Eyes" is the title of a song written by Dan Tyler, and recorded by American country music artist LeAnn Rimes. It was released in March 1997 as the fifth and final single from her debut album Blue. The song made it to number five on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 1997.[1]

The song was originally slated to be Rimes’ debut single and was sent as a press kit to radio with the music video, along with ten second clips of "Blue", "Hurt Me" and "My Baby". When "Blue" exploded at radio, it replaced this song as her first single.

She filmed the video for this song before "Blue"'s video.

Lyrics[]

Life can take your dreams and turn them upside down
Friends will talk about you when you're not around
Reality can really cut you down to size
But don't ever lose that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose that light in your eyes

People make you promises they'll never keep
Soon you'll know why people say, talk is cheap
Life resembles one big compromise
But don't ever lose that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose that light in your eyes

Keep on shining, keep on smiling
Don't lose faith and don't lose heart
When you're crying, just keep trying
To remind yourself you're a shining star, yes you are

Somewhere down the line, you'll face the judgment day
When the angels look at you, what will you say?
They've got a way of knowing who qualifies
Just let 'em see that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose that light in your eyes

Keep on shining, keep on smiling
Don't lose faith and don't lose heart
When you're crying, just keep trying
To remind yourself you're a shining star, yes you are

Don't ever lose that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose that light in your eyes
